This type of deal I could see happening. Not "really" third party but something that works well for both sides. For example:

Microsoft gets:

- 2 or 3 Nintendo IP per year of Nintendo's choice. 1/3 can be a port of an older game.
- Switch can inteface with XBox and play XBox games around the house portably.
- Ability to make a Nintendo-themed XBox hardware bundle/branding, specifically for Japanese market.
- Some Nintendo Virtual Console games ... again of Nintendo's choosing.

Nintendo gets:

- 100% of profit from their XBox games (no licensing fee charges)
- Halo Switch, Banjo-Kazooie Switch, Killer Instinct Switch, Gears of War Switch, etc.
- Minecraft x Nintendo cross over game and Minecraft Amiibo (shared profit)
- Free marketing from Microsoft
- Big, fat money hat every year from Microsoft
- Potential to have control over XBox brand if MS wants to move out of game business.

Win-win deal for both sides.

A deal with Microsoft would be so interesting for Nintendo, given how popular a machine like the switch is in Japan it could finally help ms get their foot in the door there after two decades of trying.

I always look back at Mario and sonic games side by side on the gamecube and say "never say never " when it comes to what might happen down the road.
