I think you don't know what a trend is. A trend is a general direction - go check the definition. It is by no means a strict pattern. Let me give you some trends: - Handheld gaming is declining. - Nintendo consoles are losing their importance in the market. - PS winning a generation. The Switch will be successful but it won't be more successful that the 3DS and will further demonstrate that handheld gaming is declining. |
PS4 winning a generation isn't a trend, as it is just a single point, and a trend requires multiple points. The Switch is also different than a traditional handheld or a traditional gaming console.
As well, from what we've observed, trends don't tend to apply very well in her videogaming market as far as brands go, as last generation Sony was last place for most of it, and only picked up at the very end. What you can say is that the traditional gaming home and handheld console markets are declining after peaking about 7 years ago. That's largely because of the change in culture. The switch is moving toward the right direction, bringing something in he form of a major videogame console that appeals to the smart device market. Something that has never been done.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
