Even in home consoles (sort of) if you have a PSTV it's a real throw back experience to play a console where you pop a cart into it and there is no disc whirling or fans spinning to cool it, just Cart in and play away with just the game sounds in the room. Love that system just for that reason alone.

If they were big ass carts, old fans would be all over it, but it's just the same as since the DS. At least for me, disc bases console noises where really never noticable, I remember people saying how high would the PS3 SS sound be and it was ruining it, but ever since the PS1, past the initial spinning sound to boot it, I don't remember a single time I heard the console making noises while playing any game, it's always just the game sound in the room. I don't play close to the consoles, though, but it was just really not even a thing to me.

Considering the PS1 mostly used CD audio for the soundtrack to it's games... and had a massive 1 or 2 MB of memory for the full system any time it needed to dart between getting game data and soundtrack audio you could hear the laser head darting back and forth to keep audio running and read game info... Psone was less noisy but man, the old Grey Station, no that shit was noisy coming up from the SNES and alongside the N64
