Things like that are not a "joke". People who "joke" like that at my place of work find themself getting escorted off by the police with a disorderly conduct ticket. Being rude to other people is not funny. If you friends find something like that funny just keep stuff like that between you and your friends. If you do that to a person who you do not know personally, it just rude and uncalled for, in fact that is the very definition of bullying.

Sorry for going off like that but that is one of my pet peeves.

Thats insane. A joke is ajoke. If you get ofended by it thats fine, then we dont joke with you like that again. But saying I cant joke like that because you or others might ot like it is plain old censorship. Bulying would be if you told me  you dont like it and I continue doing to you out of spite. and for someone to get fire by a simple joke, mean that I would need to work in a place with oversencitiby babys that all went to hr and complained and had to lie about what I said. This anyware would be no more than a warning. unles you work at the vatican.

This is a response of the quoted post and the above post by potato_hamster. This will be the last time I address this, sorry for being off topic.

Even in the US "free speech" has limits. And saying something is a joke when you are attacking a person on their race, creed, sexual orintation doesn't make it any less of an attack, or against the law in the US; also if free speech was the end all of everything, laws wouldn't be needed for slander or liable. For example sexual harrasment, the first thing that comes out of people mouths when charges are levied against them, 'it was only a joke. Can't they take a joke.' I have heard this so many times it makes me sick. My place has fired people because they thought they were being a buddy, and making the place happier by using sexual harrassment as a "joke". Unfortantly it's at the cost of a person when talk like this happens. IT ISN'T A JOKE, a joke I can handle, attacking a person's inheriant rights is a gross attack on another person which is protected by the bill or rights in the US and the UN Universal Declaration of human rights elsewhere, in member nations. And the rights of a person laid out in the bill of right super-ceedes the ammendments that were added later.

Yes you have free speech and can say what ever you want. But when that speech impeads another person's inherient rights, the person who is "joking" is in the wrong. That is why every time I call the cops for this, it always ends up with the "joking" person paying a fine even when they fight it. Because even in America you DONT have the right to attack another person's rights.

And now I will get off my soap box.
