Always a platform.

That was at E3. Don't make stuff up.

Takahashi (head of Nintendo EPD, one of the lead designers of NX) a few weeks ago:

“I can’t talk about this in detail yet, but we are aiming so that neither people who like games nor moms dislike it. I think that I want to release a game device that both customers who have much experience in gaming and customers who haven’t played much can enjoy greatly.”

Singular references there, not plural, not even "platform". 

This quote from the Pokemon guy also again in a singular tense. 

Metroid Prime series producer, Tanabe on a new Metroid game again refers to NX as a console, not platform, not consoles:

Reggie has also referred to NX as just a "console". 

That and quite frankly I don't think all of IGN, Peer Schneider (been covering Nintendo for 20 years, revealed the GameCube before anyone else), Eurogamer, Semi Accurate, LPVG, Wall Street Journal, Kotaku are all wrong either. 

There might be different models, but it'll be more like what the PSVita and VitaTV are in that case, not a hugely more powerful console, sorry guys that dream is dying.
