I agree. At this point, almost everyone has their idea of what the NX is and is looking for confirmation bias in every bit of rumors or 'leaks' to solidify their point-of-view. Someone who believes the NX is a hybrid sees this as more confirmation to that fact. I think the NX is one platform with multiple sepearate devices so my confirmation bias sees this as them saying that they are only making games for one Nintendo platform rather than two seperate Nintendo platforms like in the past. |
Even for logistical reasons, I hope people realized a "unified platform" is a monstrous change for Nintendo.
You're not getting a "console" that's 10x more powerful than the portable. That would make a unified library unfeasible and basically destroy the entire point of the concept.
So either way this is going to be a massive change for Nintendo gamers. To be honest in said scenario, I don't really even know who outside of maybe 10-12 million people would even buy the console variant.
You'd have the same games on the portable, and they'd have to be reasonably close in graphics. The 3DS already outsells the Wii U 5 to 1, give the 3DS all the Wii U games and close the graphics gap between the two to be much closer ... and who the hell is buying that console aside from a very small niche of Nintendo fans? You're probably looking at a 7 to 1 or 8 to 1 disparity in sales for the portable vs. console variant in this case, which I'm guessing Nintendo realized at some point in their development process.
Why force people to have to pay an additional $200+ just to play the same games on the television.
