Saddam was a threat in much the same way virtually every leader in the Middle East is a threat. They don't really get along with us well, but we aren't exactly in the sort of imminent danger that we should start a war over, and starting a war doesn't exactly ensure anything will get better.

Whether or not you agree with the war, Saddam certainly can't be compared to Hitler.
