Wtf are you talking about?
Pokemon is much more complex than Gens I/II. Do you not realize how sophisticated the game actually is?
Not just that- Sun/Moon is finally bringing a change- a good one. It has no sign of Pokemon being dumbed down.
As for animal crossing, in what way is it dumbed down? Are you talking about the spinoffs no one cares about? Or the main series? I'll understand if you're talking about the spinoffs. as for the main series, it was always extremely kid-friendly. |
And it wasn't like Gen I/II were completely perfect either. Gen I's Psychic type Pokemon were a bit too OP and Whitney's Milktank was a bit of a pain to deal with for a 3rd gym badge. Yes they're still great, but not always perfect. As the gens continued, there have been updates to the battle mechanics and stats as well. Weather, abilities, nature, etc. all became big factors throughout the years. Not to mention double battles, triple battles, rotation battles, Megas, and the new Z moves and Battle Royale.
And Animal Crossing is probably more popular than it has ever been before. With Isabelle being one of the most well know characters in Japan and the fact that females take up majority of the fan base in Japan, Nintendo has done a great job in creating an IP that captures the attention of a multitude of demographics. Plus they said they'll continue to find ways to get more females into this particular IP. Heck their new director is a female.
