The suggestions were about porting existing games and putting sequels on mobile. What Nintendo is actually doing is very different, hence why the calls for Nintendo to go third party haven't stopped at all.

Actually, the consensus seemed to be that Nintendo wouldn't touch mobile at all since their handhelds were doing so well on their own and Wii U would win the 8th gen since the Wii won the one before and the same manufacturer always wins twice in a row (it was a shockingly common statement in here for some time).
