When did graphics start having diminishing returns for you?

Nothing else truly matters in this discussion. Yes, the actual definition is about figures, but in this case, the OP is looking for one's own perspective on the best of the best. From mine, we're nowhere close. Watching graphics progress and actually putting forth your own effort(s) can really shift how you perceive it - regardless of the law.

Well in the end doesn't the output of software define the generation, even if one has the potiential to make Space Elevator, unless it is made, it means nothing.
