Yeah that's not how that works.

The xbox one was discounted almost $100 plus it had several games with it. Even then it only outsold the ps4 by 10k. That is like having a 20 year-old starting half-way up the race track barely outrunning a 60 year old man.

I am quite surprised the ps4 hasn't had another discount. I mean one discount in 3 years is pretty strange. They don't need to do anything though.

edit: HUGE sales one month, and console releases another. Then the sales stop. Then the consoles return to normal. Then Sony takes over again.

At most I'd give Xbox July, August, September, and October.

I see what you're saying, and honestly, I haven't been keeping up with the the different sales during those times.  I do think that the current console gen is reaching critical mass when price plays a bigger factor over content for the "casual" shopper.  So I can see how with current hardware offerings that the Xbox One can be seen as more appealing.

Agreed. Sony needs a 50$ pricecut if they still want to outsell the Xone on a constant basis in the US. A pricedrop would also help a whole lot in boosting hardware and software sales outside the US and convince more people to bite the bullet when PSVR releases. % more days, and we will probably have a far clearer picture of what we can expect from this Q4.
