I never understood that either, and there was a lot of anger from Vita owners over that. It's not like Sony bricked the Vita versions of those games, and personally, I'd rather have played most of the Vita's library on a console anyway, so I was glad to have that choice.
Now, Vita owners did have some legitimate gripes. A lot of Vita versions of some games were cancelled outright, I am Setsuna being the most recent example that comes to mind. And then there were the howls of rage over Final Fantasy Type-0 HD being released on PS4/X1 instead of Vita...
