I think it's fairly obvious that the NX is not a conventional "portable". It won't fit in your pocket and it won't be super cheap.

For people who want those attributes, Nintendo is keeping the 3DS around.

Maybe when 7nm manufacturing is a thing, Nvidia can make a pocket size version of the NX, but that's likely a long wait ... probably 2018 or 2019 until that is feasible.

So for people saying "b ... bu ... but NX can't be so big and it can't cost more than $200 because those are the rules" ... well here are the new rules. 3DS will accomodate the lower end of the market for a while longer.

Yeah I see what you're trying to do here.

If you want to continue this discussion then respond to my last comment on the matter, otherwise I'll do the same as you did.

This isn't your thread bro.

This is basically what I said yesterday, and it lines up pretty much 100%. 3DS needs to be kept around because the NX is not 3DS-2. Simple as that.

It's impossible to have the form factor of a 3DS and likely even the price range of the 3DS with what Nintendo wants to do with the NX. Again, simple as that.

When 10nm or 7nm processors are available and cheap to mass produce, then it's something Nintendo can revisit (a smaller NX), but that won't be an option really until 2018 or so. A 16nm Tegra processor will which is about the best Nintendo can get today will melt the inside of a 3DS and would kill the battery in 50-60 minutes (which ever comes first).
