This is clearly a tablet sized device, this is not a "pocket" device. 

Even a 3DS XL pretty much pushes the limit of what realistically go into a normal pocket

 

 

Do tablets normally have freakishly wide screens or 4 inches of useless space on them? Their drawing certainly doesn't show this. Thus those dimensions don't make any sense, so either something is missing or reported incorrectly, or they're just as bad at lying as they are at drawing.

It does make sense in the context that it would have to be a certain size to dissipate the heat. Could also just be a dev kit thing, dev kits don't look like final product. 

Personally this is going to have to be the size of a Wii U tablet for a number of reasons. Detachable controllers the size of a tiny candy bar aren't going to work either because they're not going to be comfortable to hold, the "wings" can be a bit thinner than Wiimotes, but not by a lot IMO. 

This thing is going to have to have some size to it. The bigger is better for performance anyway, the bigger the size the closer Nintendo can likely get to 100% full clock of the Tegra chip they're using rather than having to gimp it.
