It's not going to have PS4/X1 level specs, there is no mobile chip on the planet capable of that. Tegra X2 is about as good as it gets, that's bleeding edge for mobile tech and that gets you 625 GFLOPS, even with the Nvidia/AMD disparity in FLOP-age (lol), that only brings you up to about 812 GFLOPS or so.

Not bad, probably good enough to have some PS4/X1 ports if the developer is willing to reduce some effects and keep the res at 720p.

$269.99 is still relatively cheap for a tablet ... an iPad Mini with only 16GB of storage costs a whopping $399.99 and doesn't play console games. If I'm a parent on a budget I know which one I'd rather get my kids if they asked for one or the other.

They aren't competing with Sony/MS, not unless Sony/MS have a gaming tablet, making the NX portable is basically Nintendo's way of getting out of that whole pissing match entirely.

The only people who would buy such a system for close to the same price as a PS4/X1 are diehard Nintendo fanatics and the Japanese. Unless it has all of the additional functionality of a tablet, (which it won't) it won't be seen as a viable alternative to an iPad.

Well Nikkei has been pretty much mostly correct every time they've reported something on Nintendo. They said Android apps on NX ... I think that's legit and gonna happen.

Not just for functionality sake but because there's money Nintendo can make from having their own eShop distribute Android apps. 30% cut of each app's revenue adds up. They'll use their own custom OS, but it'll be able to run Android apps after the app has been authorized by Nintendo, something like that.

Even today ... the 3DS XL, which is the 3DS model that's overwhelmingly the one people buy, is $200 ... you can get an XBox One with Quantum Break + Alan Wake + 500GB HDD right now for $50 more, lol.

I don't think you're getting a 7-8 inch HD display + 4-6GB RAM + cutting edge Tegra X2 SoC + the large 8000-10000 MaH battery that's going to have to be inside to power the thing for only $50 more than what a 3DS XL costs today. Just my guess though.
