No. Please don't misunderstand.
All the movies are certainly not pretentious. I said the list is pretentious, overall.
These movies are in my opinion very good:
No country for old men I haven't watched Mad Max: Fury Road I agree Pan's Labyrinth (this movie is good despite being pretentious and very "cultural critic") A great movie indeed. No idea why you need to label movies beyond good and bad. A history of violence I haven't watched. A.I. I agree, I also agree that's better than the list Chris provided. Finding Nemo ofc
Inception was okay, I agree
Inglorious basterds is okay or even good (but the worst Tarantino movie). I haven't watched, but I do feel there is some sort of critical bias towards anything Tarantino shits, I am SUPER glad Kill Bill hasn't made the list.
25th Hour had glimpses of good in it but Spike Lee is clearly among the pretentious directors. I haven't watched.

So you basically just like to lable things beyond good and bad, it's ok, we're good friends after all.

To label beyond good and bad?
Yes, I mean, it was my first discovery ages ago when I realized the mentality of the cultural critic, that they measure beyond good and bad. So I had to use the same reasoning if I would address this BBC list.
Also, sometimes there are parts of a movie that are good, parts that are bad or at least less good, to the extent that you end up with mixed feelings about it overall, hence my comment for Pan's Labyrinth.
Thank you for the positive comment in the end.
