Actually even on the GameCube most multiplats sold way better on the PS2 and even XBox. Things like Soul Calibur 2 were the rare case of a GameCube version selling on par or slightly better because they put Link into the game.

But the GameCube still did get a lot of third party games.

Wii and Wii U's problem is the hardware simply can't adequetely run the versions of games that developers are making, not without serious sacrifices or having to rebuild the game from scratch.

It's entirely possible NX is in the same boat.

Gamecube did not get the important tird party games. It got okay japanese support and token western support. It didn't even have GTA. Of course the audience would primarily be on other platforms when Gamecube got treated so poorly.

You make it sound like Nintendo got bullied out of third party support by Sony and Microsoft.

Care to explain why third party games sold so poorly on the Wii with a 100 million install base? Developers didn't even care that Nitnendo was so terrible to work with, the install base has everyone clamouring to make Wii games! It's just too bad Wii owners didn't buy them.
