This is the fucking problem with third parties.

The endless chicken and egg of "we can't sell on Nintendo platforms because we never make games for them"

Nah, plenty of third party games sold great on the NES and SNES. it's just that Nintendo platforms are a giant pain in the ass to develop for, Nintendo is difficult to work with, and Nintendo tends to not give a crap. Even in the NES and SNES developers most only developed for those platforms because they were super popular. Then the Wii came along and was popular once again, and Nintendo demonstrated once again they really didn't care about third parties, and even worse, appeared to be completely oblivous to what their competitors were doing when third parties asked about solutions to integrate xbox-live networking into Nintendo's equivalent.

But please don't take my word for it.  There are plenty of stories out there to support this besides my first-hand experrience.
