The thing that makes me laugh is Nintendo's obsession with being "mom approved".

Is "mom" really likely to buy an NX if she has a smartphone that can already play games that she carries with her 24/7? Is she going to start carrying around a tablet sized NX to play video games on?

Like really, Nintendo, who gives a fuck what "mom" thinks.

I think the mom quote is being taken out of context, to me it seems to be less about a device that a mom would buy solely for herself and talking more about a device that mom would get for the family and would enjoy it aswell.

It basically is also Nintendo speak for "don't expect great hardware".

It's going to be the same type of philosophy as the Wii or Wii U, will just depend on whether fickle casuals come on board this time or not. That will depend heavily on the gimmck(s) of the machine.

Nintendo is just obsessed with what mom's think about games, like they need approval or something. The Wii had to be small and cute and very quiet because mom's don't like big, loud consoles, etc. It has to consume a low wattage because mom doesn't like game consoles consuming electricity.

But when you have those types of design restrictions it basically cripples what you can do performance wise with hardware.
