The advertising and focus at the moment is on the XB1s and the media are talking about the XB1s. MS are also clearing stock of the older XB1s. Next month the media will be talking about either the PS4 Slim, possibly the Neo and PSVR. Sony may opt to just keep the PS4 as is and drop the price OR they may call the Neo the slim in preparation for another console to match the Scorpio next year. I'm inclined to think calling the Neo a slim is not a bad move. |
Sony do not need to do anything, just keep doing what they they're doing and stick to their own plans. MS have been chasing Sony for 3 years and everything they do is in response to what Sony are doing. They do not need to worry about what others are doing. Keep a close eye on MS, have a back up plan but stick to your own and adapt a little if need be.
After being $100 less and releasing 3 Slim models and you only claw back 200k maximum in those 2 months, what else do they have up their sleeve? Slim launch with obviously see a big peak before steadying back down. Sony have the Neo and probably a $300 PS4 or best case scenario, Neo $399, Slim $299, old model $249 and PSVR around the corner.
