I'm not blaming tv though, that medium simply does not have the creative ability to compete with anime's unlimited potential.

I'm half way through Kill La Kill.  The first few episodes I was like, "What the hell is this garbage?"  But now it's been a very pleasant surprise.  When you finally understand the premises and recognize how the art style work with the stroytelling, you'll see that the whole thing has been ingenious.

Sounds like you need to get more familiar with Imaishi's works. That man can't fail and if you enjoy Kill La Kill you should check out all his other animes as well.
