You know this technique was already placed in a Wii game as an Easter Egg right? The game is the one developed by Steven Spielberg for the Wii. I don't know the name.

Boom Blox was the name of the game.

It was a feature that was dropped in the final version of the game.

There is much speculation as to why it was dropped....we have already heard one reason on here (maybe in jest)....

A) The programmers didn't know how to do it,

B) The technology is proprietary and a patent infringement was threatened at the 11th hour,

C) EA wants to release it later as a $5 DLC

D) Nintendo (or EA) contacted Johnny Lee about implementing this tech in a future console (or console upgrade).

Any of these is possible/ likely. The most we can hope is that ultimately this technology emerges for mass consumption and that developers/publishers put lots of money/backing behind it (unlike the launch of the Wii.)
