Well is more choice really bad?

I mean sure you need to read a bit more to know what you're getting but isn't that better than only having the option of buying the Deluxe Edition for ~$100 with a few more crappy emotes and 3 useless guns or not buying the game at all?
instead you can still get the standard edition for $60 (That's an Star Wars Battlefront-ish example)

About FIFA. The game doesn't have DLC. You get some Ultimate Team packs with the other editions. Very useless if you don't play FUT.
About Mortal Kombat XL. It simply has all the DLC fighters. If you're a fan of horror movies you need to get it. Alien, Leatherface, Predator etc.
About The Crew. That's a really interesting case. I think Wild Run is only the DLC for the base game and Wild Run Edition is the base game + DLC. And I guess the Complete Edition adds some in-game money or a few cars or something like that.
From my experience though the base game is enough. Wild Run only adds a few types of new events, motorcycles and monster trucks. Everything else has been added as a free patch to the base game.

In conclusion, you can buy the base game and still get everything YOU really want later on. No need to buy the complete edition right away, but it's certain that the complete edition is cheaper than buying everything seperate.... Unless you wait a long time for the DLCs to become cheaper.

It's not just about choice though, it is the pushing of versions which are labeled as "complete" do you not get what I mean how that makes it appear that the base game is somehow an incomplete experience? whereas in the case of things like Dragon Age the base game is meant to be a fantastic complete game on its own.

Also I had heard that MKX had multiple seasons of dlc, something about a second season not coming to the PC or so (I fully admit to not knowing the full story here) but does the XL version contain all of the dlc for season 1 and 2, if you don't know it's fine I could dig about to find out myself I was just pondering if it was XL but for the season 2 content would there be a XXL version on the way later on.

Also if Wild run is the dlc addon for the first version of The Crew, then The Crew Wild Run edition is the base game + Wild Run.... how is that not a complete game still for the final ultimate edition lol.

The store is full of even more examples of this for the ps4 moreso than the ps3/psv but like I said I like the options of buying game + all the dlc as game of the year editions, I guess most of my complaint is directed towards how in some cases it just cheapens the base often very full version of the game.

Well yeah it does... to the uninformed customer. You, as an avid gamer, should know better though.

About MK X. I haven't heard anything about seasons. I do know though that there are 2 "Kombat Pack" that include all DLC fighters.
So if you buy MK X and both Kombat Packs, you basically have the XL Edition (minus a few skins and fatalities), which is the most complete edition available.
Otherwise all DLC fighters are available seperately as well.

About The Crew. I just looked it up and the Complete Edition also includes the Season Pass, which will add:
-Four Additional Car Packs (twelve cars total)
 *The Extreme Car Pack
 *The Speed Car Pack
 *The Vintage Car Pack
 *The Raid Car Pack
-New car Stickers, Paint Jobs, and Unlocked Tuning Specs
-Two Additional Cars Exclusive to Season Pass Holders
________
14 cars and a bunch of misc stuff. That shouldn't make the game incomplete in any way.
