I'm not sure I follow what you're trying to say, here. Nintendo's home consoles have struggled lately (Wii excluded) and the market for handheld consoles shrinks every year. It's not unreasonable for someone to think they might be better off getting out of hardware and just focusing on software. Dunno what exclusives or 'having a place in gaming' have to do with that.
