I don't think Sony holds any rights to Mario, that was just a rumor that was never confirmed. They might be in talks but we haven't heard any confirmation or deconfirmation from Sony OR Nintendo on that one. 
And Legnedary only has the rights to the Detective Pikachu film, not all Pokemon films. So if there's still a little ray of hope, not a big one, but it's there.
