It goes beyond that. Thread Etiquette is idea of learning how to make/participate in threads without being a pain. Just few ideas: 1) Distinguishing between what is a thread worthy topic vs something that can posted inside another thread because it is just extension of said other thread. We have tons of Pokemon GO threads that conceptually are the same thing, but we have no thread actually discussing the game. 2) Boyfriends - Users who like to have side conversations in a thread where its not relevant. This usually happens between members who are buddies. Take it to your walls. 3) Clone threads - Threads asking the same questions to different groups. We dont need that. Just make ONE thread that houses them. 4) List threads - Just ask you list something. These threads aren't bad, but they dont encourage any good discussion from members or thought from creator. Everybody should move away from these "training wheels" when you get comfortable making threads. Take it a step further. Instead of "whats your favorite Final Fantasy", focus on a Final Fantasy or a couple of Final Fantasies and encourage a debate about about something. "Why Final Fantasy 4 is superior to Final Fantasy 6" - That something to debate about. |
But people will get more points if they just say "what was your favourite fighting game" because people will see the title and feel the need to add their game of choice thinking that the OP will be genuinely interested and actually reply in the thread but in 90% of those threads the OP doesn't list their own opinion even as that would take time and they've moved onto "What was your favourite retro console" See it even says Retro console and some clever trolls could think of adding clever votes such as PS4 because it has indies lol, or the Wii-U because it isn't selling well and that is hilarious for some. See list threads are basically bait to lure people in to have a troll on some levels too, honeypots for all important VGpoints
