Nintendo's kiddy image has been since the Sega days (and you can see which one ended leaving the hardware race).

 

On top of that, the casual Wii image is what helped them to sell in the first place so much consoles last gen. Partnering with Facebook, Apple or Google will reinforce that casual image or make it more mainstream (which is their goal).

 

Going with the other 3 (Sony, MS and...?) won't help any bit as the image you pointed won't change. Going PC&Mobile is their best choice as people won't have to spend a lot to enjoy Nintendo offerings.
