If a $350 console sells 1M this year in Japan (just an example), then my money is that in the first year that the console is at $250 it will sell more than it did at $350. 

But this year it's getting Tales of Berseria, FFXV and Persona 5 in Japan. 2017 might have a chance if DQXI and KH3 releases.

Keep in mind, the PS3's peak year in Japan was 2009.
