I cant say this movie is bad, but from what I hear, from at least trusted reviews, they have no problems with the female cast, yea some are dispointed, but the problems of this film stand out on its own and have nothing to do with an all female cast. Sony has made sure that any criticicism is addreesed back as "because your a sexist" To avoid talking about the real issues of the film. Just from seeing the trailers, I can agree with the bad reviews. But I will judge for myself once is free. |
The cast is quite decent actually. I would have zero problems seeing a sequel with the same cast, they all did well even Leslie Jones who I was afraid would be very poorly written does a decent job. They're all likable enough and they all have good chemistry with each other. Melissa McCarthy is probably the weakest of the characters.
The script is the weaker point, but even that is not that bad. It's your basic summer popcorn movie. The third act kinda fizzles a bit, the first half of the movie is stronger. The villian needed to be written up a bit more but the basic idea behind him I actually didn't have a big quarrell with.
This was much better than Pixels which is basically a "modern" ghostbusters movie (just with game characters instead of ghosts and Adam Sandler).
