From the sounds of it this movie is no worse or probably better than a lot of summer "tentpole" movies this summer ... X-Men Apocalypse, Teenange Mutant Ninja Turtles, Warcraft, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and Indepedence Day all had varying levels of suck (probably more than this film has), but none have been given anywhere close to the same scrutiny or vitriol.
If fanboys want to direct their anger at someone for not getting another Ghostbusters with the original cast, they should direct their anger at Bill Murray, because he's the main reason "Ghostbusters III" never happened. Then again, Ghostbusters II kinda SUCKED, so maybe the hardcore fanbase who are angry over this need to chill the fuck out.
This was never some masterpiece franchise, it had one good film, one shitty one, and then a cartoon series for kiddies. Like seriously, get over it. This was never a "cultural event" like Star Wars was with any kind of mythical ethos or any of that shit, it was just a dumb but fun buddy comedy which cashed in on the 80s craze of selling stupid plastic toys to kids and then had a really dull sequel that basically killed the IP for 25+ years.
