At the Doomsday in space thing, just because you are "in space" ie. 100 km above the earth, doesn't mean you aren't affected by gravity. Gravity at the ISS (International Space Station) is only 10% weaker than it is here at ground level. Look up how orbits work.

But the movie was still pretty bad.
