What was wrong with Tokyo Ghoul? I know the Route A part had some complaints but was there anything wrong with the first part?

Oh yeah, they left out a lot of key parts in the first one, a lot of character development was lost, especially for Kaneki. Route A was a huge mess that I'd rather not even begin to  talk about, especially with them removing the true ending for five minutes of Kaneki walking.
