Why should it convince people to buy an X1? Is it likely that you will buy some of MS´s exclusive games now that they are also coming to W10? In that case their plan has worked, since software is where they make the revenue.

They gave the consumer less reason to buy an X1. Aren't consoles out there for the exclusives we don't get to play on PC? If PS and Nintendo exclusives become available on PC, the consoles are unnecessary. Let's assume they will do the same approach with Xbox 4: all its games are also playable on PC and the performance is always better on PC. Then what's its selling point? If the Xbox doesn't sell, they will lose money.

People in general don´t buy consoles for exclusives, they buy them for convenience and brand recognition. And they will not loose money if they sell few consoles, they will loose money if they sell less software. Hardware doesn´t generate profit (unless you are Nintendo :)). How many of current PS4 owners do you think would be interested in buying or building a gaming PC for maybe 600-700$ instead of just buying a prebuilt home console that they just plug in and game on?
