Can you post a link for that? Since I remember Iwata saying that they wouldn't abandon the Wii U after the launch of the NX, but that could mean alot of things apart from new games, it could mean things like keeping the servers for games like SSB4/MK8/Splatoon etc., it could also mean they will keep updating the VC and the eshop or the system itselve.
Maybe I'm remembering it wrong and Iwata did talk about games but if I'm correct and he said they wouldn't abandon the system then there isn't anyway to say what will they do with the Wii U after the NX launches.
PS: Kimishima in Oct.'15 talked about unannounced Wii U/3DS games( http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/10/nintendo_has_unannounced_wii_u_and_3ds_titles_ready_for_launch_before_the_year_end ) but in Apr'16 he only mention unannounced 3DS games( https://mynintendonews.com/2016/04/28/kimishima-more-unannounced-first-party-nintendo-3ds-games-in-development/ )
