If Zelda wasn't going to be ready until around then, that is probably why they delayed it. Zelda is huge, and not just for sales. It's a word of mouth kind of game and it makes the press and critics give it a lot more attention than they would have if they only had something niche like Pikman 4 or Diddy Kong Racing 2 or something.
