I actually thought they'd give it a higher score because they had been gushing over the game in previous articles and podcasts. I was expecting maybe an 8.5.
An 8.0 sounds about right to me. From what I read in another review, it's a solid first effort but a sequel will easily blow this one out of the water.
Btw, IGN UK gave it an 8.0 also in April.
Edit: It seems to be right in line with Metacritic's aggregate score.
