FF7 was sold as a psyical game for PCs, the net had nothihng to do with it.. Not sure why you brought that up.

Nothing is as popular then Star Wars, However Halo is alot more popular then Street Fighter, Megaman, Sonic and the only 2 exceptions in your list is Mario and Pokemon. I dont think you get it do you, Halo brings in more money then most of your list of games your claiming are bigger. If you dont think Halo is a big franchise because you dont play them, doesnt mean its not big. Not everything is based off your taste and opinion. Halo hosts one of the bigger E-Sports, it sells on anything, and it also rakes in millions. Tell me how much SF5, Megaman and Sonic rake in and lets compare it to the game you dont think is very big at all. I bet Halo 5 earned more money then those 3 games combined.

Your profile stats your only 16, that explains alot in this debate. Iv been playing WoW alone for 11 years. Trust me iv been gaming alot longer then you have, and to let you know, iv been gaming before you were even born. Its a sad life i have however i am no longer going to continue this debate with you since your not even researching your claims. I dont debate without facts. So unless you want to prove to me that Halo isnt a big franchise, and that SF5, Megaman and Sonic are, ill continue.

I will bet you Halo 5 has made more money then all 3 mention and no, Street Fighter, Megaman and Sonic are no where near as popular as Star Wars. Halo is in a different league compared to those games. Its more in the league of Mario.

I'm refering to Fame out-side of Gaming the franchise does not need to be bigger than the other to do that, the only tittle that would be comparable to Star Wars if GTA, it is correct to say that GTA is for gaming what Star Wars is for the movies, And last time i checked the Sonic Franchise had 150+ Millions of units sold out-selling all the other franchises i mentioned combined, Megaman, Street Fighter, Halo, (and if it had a little more would have out-sold Uncharted), the franchise is of the early 90s.

We are talking about Proportions of Fame, the Statement Greenberg made is analogy so if he compared Halo with Star Wars and said "For Gaming" the franchise must be atleast in Equal Proportions, Star Wars is a franchise  everyone out-side of movies will know, and  Mario, Sonic, Pokemon, Donkey Kong (I believe that is well known out-side of gaming) Pacman.

Maybe Halo is more popular on USA because majority of the users are Americans but a franchise cannot be famous in just 1 country to be considered "Star Wars of gaming", otherwise Dragon Quest would be more famous than Halo, the franchise sold 50+ Millions of Manga, had a Successful Anime, against Halo who sold probably over 8 Millions of Novels.

Regarding Box Office i think that the Early Star Wars crossed 800-1 Billion of US$ in the 70-80s the last one crossed 2 Billions of US$, is one of the top 3-4 best selling movies of all times, Even in the Home-console Market Halo is still behind Sonic, Gran Turismo, Mario, Zelda. And in the Gaming Industrie the only exclusive to top all the other games (even Multiplataform) in Revenue is Pokemon, the franchise already made over 50-52 Billions of US$ in Revenue Worldwide not even GTA Franchise made so much Revenue.

The Japanese Animation Industrie is over a little more than 2 Billion of US$ per year, so Pokemon did the most of his Revenue without the Anime.

I'm just saying that is Silly to compare Halo with Star Wars, because Star Wars is in the top 3 biggest movie franchises  of all times, even so it seems that you fail to understand my posts, i said that "Halo is a modest Success" refering to Novel's sales and outside gaming related products it sold over 11 Millions of combined units of Art Book, Strategy Book, HQ, Novels. and you replied   saying that Halo is a big franchise that the game paid itself and that you doubt  other games would make 500 Millions of Revenue First week so Easily.

Microsoft changed the metric to tell Halo's achievement, Halo 2 had 130-140 Millions of Revenue first week (just Software), Halo 3 over 180 Millions First Week (just Software)  isn't strange for Halo 5 to gross 500 Millions of US$ First Week (including Hardware) ?, so it sold 2.5x more than Halo 3 in the First Week ?.

You’re not completely understanding here. Sonic was popular outside of gaming in the 80s and 90s, it’s not anymore. Minecraft is regarded as one of the biggest franchises on the market and it’s not even a decade old. You don’t need to be around since the 80s and 90s to be popular outside of gaming. Greenberg was 100% correct with his statement. Star Wars hasn’t had the best success when it comes to video games but it’s the best sci-fi movie franchise going around, Halo isn’t the best at movies but when it comes to video games it’s the best sci-fi game franchise going around. Halo is the Star Wars of gaming like Star Wars is the Halo of movies. It’s not hard to see that Halo is more than just a game, just like Star Wars, it’s a brand that sells on everything. It’s a franchise full off spin offs, story’s that expand for another 20 years and it’s the best in the business at what it does. I am a huge Star Wars fan and when it comes to movies nothing beats it, but when it comes to games, guess who beats Star Wars? That’s right Halo. I’d prefer to play Halo and watch Star Wars like many others out there. Hence Greenberg’s comment. Halo is one of the biggest video game franchises going around to date regardless if the latest game has beaten its predecessors, Halo 5 is as big as any Halo game before it since it’s not only selling games, its selling heaps more merchandise and novels etc.
