Serperior's monotyping actually makes it a decent tank, because it's not taking on a ton more weaknesses like other grass types. Look at this list:

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Grass_%28type%29

Almost all of the dual-Grass types that aren't half Poison have at least one 2x weakness. Meanwhile, what's the dual typing doing for them on offense? Diddly squat.

Parasect is Bug-Grass: two double weaknesses, six in total, and Bug-Grass gives horrible coverage (can't do a thing to Flying, Poison or Steel)

Chesnaught and Breloom: double weak to Flying, both STABs can't do a thing to Flying, Poison or Bug. More horrible coverage.

Venusaur and other Grass/Poison: They tend to depend highly on status moves, but Can't do crap to Steel and Poison if they're not carrying Sleep Powder/Stun Spore, can't use status on other Grass types except Toxic, and get completley walled by other Grass/Poison.

Even the best dual-type out there not named Mega Venusaur, Ferrothorn, has a double weakness to Fire. Most people who play competitively don't bother to give it both STABs either.

Completely besides the point, we're talking movepools here. Dual typing simply ensures you have moves from atleast two different types. As much as I love Serperior, it simply has one of the worst movepools I've ever seen. All it's best moves being Grass just makes things worse since it's a poor type offensively with it being resisted by all the things. It's a struggle trying to bring my Serperior out in online battles where almost every given team has 4 Pokemon that resist her, even plenty dual resistances.

Grass types are better off being monotypes. The only dual type grass pokemon used in competitive gaming are gimmick pokemon that can tank or attack specific common enemies like Ferrothorn, Breloom or Amoonguss. And Megavenusaur because of his decents stats and only 2 weaknesses...And that's it, add Serperior and that's all the grass types used in the most common of tiers.

As of now Rowlet is going to be garbage simply because of his too many weaknesses to very common types of attacks. I really hope he loses his flying side of things. If you truly love him, don't let him fly. It's for his own good. *sad music*

I think that has more to do with Grass as a type sucking than Grass dual types.

Rowlet loses his wings and... he still has 5 weaknesses. He's grass so he's not gonna be great eitherway, but I think a 4x weakness is worth being able to actually do stuff offensively.

Funny that you say that, because you didn't say a thing about movepools in your last post. Let's avoid shifing goalposts, please. Either way, a Pokemon's variety in its movepool has little to do with its typing and almost everything to do with what GameFreak thinks fits it thematically. Donphan, Electivire and Eelektross are mono-type, but have insanely good offensive coverage lists. Venusaur is dual-typed, but has coverage almost as crappy as Serperior. In fact, the ONLY Poison type move it learns naturally in Gen 6 is lol-Poison Powder. You have to teach it Sludge Bomb via a TM. Serperior learns two Poison type moves via level up. ;)
