Too soon, I think. Introducing a new type is a fast way of balancing the game. In gen 2 steel and dark could counter psychic really well, and in gen 6 fairy type counters dragon while buffing poison. Right now, there is no single type that is clearly overpowered, so there is no need for a new type.
