He asked Nintendo about a July event and they actually replied to him asking where he got that information.
Now it being the internet he was aked to show proof that he's in contact with Nintendo so he did.

Now this can be taken with a grain of salt but it makes sense to skip E3 if they are planning on having an event in July.
