Sold far less than both BO2 and MW3. And considering how wary people are for "infinite warfare" I doubt that'll last long.

Black ops 3(PS4) will pass Black Ops 2(360 and PS3 individually) in time considering VGChartz has BO3 at 12.99 million on PS4 and has BO2 at 14(PS3) and 13.70(360). The Xbox 1 version won't though.

However I don't disagree with you that the series in general is suffering fatigue. Activision's DLC and RNG practices are pissing people off despite BO3 being a very well made game(in my opinion). With Infinite Warfare, we could see huge sales initially because of the Modern Warfare Remaster not being available seperately and then a huge drop off(much like Battlefront) soon after if the game(Infinite Warfare) cannot stand on its own. Very hard to determine considering it will be a huge Christmas seller, has Sony's push and the MW:Remaster...

When we see actual gameplay it will be more indicative.
