Bottom line is Nintendo betrayed the Wii U owners who tried to push this agenda that everything was A-OK in Wii U land. It wasn't. Nintendo was "cheating" on the system for several years, you can pretty much trace it back to 2014 ... they started actively looking for a next-gen graphics engineer, started cutting deals for things like free-form LCD displays (which now know have popped up in game controller patents), etc. etc.

Once the 2013 holiday went to shit for Nintendo they started to bail out on the system.

Zelda was never going to be a Wii U-only release either, that decision was sealed a long, long time ago.
