Just for the record I never said 2016 was a lock, I said they were clearly aiming for 2016 but as with anything Nintendo does, a delay is always a possibility, and a March 2017 launch basically does logically point to the fact that they were pushing hard for a holiday 2016 launch, just missed it by a few months.

But the general supposition of Nintendo would never abandon the Wii U before 5 full years and all that was a farce. Nintendo gave up on the Wii U in 2014 and had to have begun hard development on the NX back then (Nov 16 launch vs. March 17 is an immaterial difference in the grand scheme of things).

I actually suspect also that this is not a software issue (with NX) so much as it probably is an issue with TSMC not being able to fabricate 14nm AMD chips easily and possibly that Kimishima wanted some changes made to the system after taking over which may have also pushed the window back 3 months. With Zelda U and probably several other Wii U projects transferred over to the NX ages ago, I think they probably could have launched this year *software* wise if they really had to. Throw in a few PS4/XB1 third party ports and it would've been fine in that regard.

Can't really ship a console if the factory is having problems making the GPUs though or if your new CEO wants some changes made to certain design elements.

Did you even choose a side? Can't see you on the list.

Get outta here! You didn't pick a side so you can't claim victory or loss. :P

I've said my position in several threads pretty clearly ...

- Nintendo has given up on Wii U and major internal teams were not working on Wii U projects. True/false ... looks true.

- Zelda would be for the NX as a launch title with the Wii U getting it as a token goodbye gift like TP. True.

- They were aiming for a 2016 launch but it could be delayed because Nintendo can't release anything on time. Probably true, unless there is something magical about launching in March, there's no logical reason to choose this over a Nov/December release, unless the Wii U had some killer fall lineup which it doesn't.

- Showing/or not showing it at previous E3s or looking at previous Nintendo unveils to try and get a read on NX was pointless. True. NX won't even be shown at a single E3 prior to launch.
