Trust me, I get it. I am just saying those people claiming it would be impossible, it isn't. With VR and 4k, we will see more and more stylize games (a la Nintendo's games) that look great but do not require as much horsepower as the ultra-realistic shooter/adventure game . Check out PSVR titles like No Man's Sky or Battlezone. Heck, games with Gen 7 fidelity would look good at 4k and in VR and if rumors of NX being more powerful than PS4, I am positive they will have some 4k titles. |
The type of gamer/customer who appreciates higher resolutions and likely VR, are not the ones most likely to appreciate those types of games, so that seems counterproductive as a concept to me. Casual gamers and customers care a lot less about tech, resolution, more about price, availability and "it" factor. VR is a long way off from being mainstream with the prices it currently has, these will stay high for some years to come due to (likely) low product volume and sales mostly to enthusiasts.
4k as a gaming concept is not ready for mainstream, regardless of stylized visuals and other technical work-arounds and demographic tailoring. If Nintendo were to aim for simplistic gaming with VR and 4k with the NX, they'll be shoothing themselves in the foot one more time by offering a bipolar gaming concept with no real demographic, just like they did with the Wii U, let's all hope they have more sense than that.
