Games like Rayman Adventures, Tales of Monkey Island, Infinity Blade 3, Real Racing 3 and many others are way above "PS1-level graphical fidelity" and run perfectly fine even on iPads in native 2048x1536 resolution.
Modern consoles should have no problem to play these games in native 4K.
