Makes sense. This is now one of Nintendo's most important franchises, especially on the console side it's their first break out hit since like Wii Fit in 2008, which is a damn long drought and it's going to be one of the biggest IP in Japan.
I don't think there was any doubt it was coming to NX early, Nintendo was not going to wait until 2017 or 2018 to do the Splatoon 2 thing.
Too many people never got to play this game anyway because it was locked away on the Wii U which most people did not own.
Splatoon, Smash, Zelda, and I think Mario Maker will be rebooted quickly to the NX.
