Yet it gives possibilities for wireless vr headsets, perhaps the WiiU tech is fast enough for that. However game streaming VR games will be impossible. Vita and PS TV should be a bit better as they support direct WiFi, perhaps that will be a future update for remote play too. Too bad the ps4 doesn't have 5ghz wifi.

Anyway the lag is a much more restricting factor than 720p.

Low range comes from the 5GHz band that doesn't penetrate well through walls. I have the same issue with my dual-band routers, where I'm not interested in speed but I am in range, so I have the 5GHz band always turned off (for energy reasons). It's a compromise that must be made during design.
