N64 had 3 in 2001, GameCube had 3 in 2006, game development was much cheaper then.
The bigger question is not that. The bigger question is if NX does not launch until 2017, what realistic chance does it have of any real market success?
If people think Nintendo can show up with something slightly better than a PS4 in 2017 and have good success with it ... they are higher than Cheech & Chong. Not only will the PS4/XB1 have huge head starts by then, even the PS4K will have a headstart and it will likely demolish the NX in performance.
