Of course Nintendo didn't say anything. What do you think would've happened if they did? Nintendo only stood to lose if they spoke up.
As for her... if she isn't responsible for any of the decisions regarding localisation then its profundly disturbing that she got laid off.
But something tells me she had a hand on it. Customers are clearly not happy with the censorship, but if someone else was responsible, they should be the ones laid off.
