From Square Enix's point of view, it's better for them if more people buy the PS4 version than if more people buy the 3DS version, because home console games have a higher retail price. Therefore it would be better for them if the PS4 version "stole" sales from the 3DS version than vice versa, so it makes little sense to release the 3DS version first. It also doesn't really make sense to release the PS4 version first, because it's better to release them both at the same time because you won't have to create new hype with marketing for the second version's release; you can just market both in the time before the dual release.

Sony bias up the ying yang here I see.

3DS version will outsell the PS4 and likely will finish development earlier too.

What?

I didn't literally mean that more people would buy the PS4 version, just that the more people buy the PS4 version instead of the 3DS version, the better for SE.

Financially it's better for SE if the PS4 version sells 1.5 million and the 3DS version sells 2.5 million, than if the 3DS version sells 3 million and the PS4 version sells 1 million, despite both scenarios having a total of 4 million copies sold.

Not bias, it's pretty basic logic.
